Cecilia Moore-Buck, M.Ed., APC, NCC

Cecilia is an Associate Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. She enjoys working with people of all ages, though the bulk of her experience thus far has been with children, adolescents, and young adults, particularly those who have been economically disadvantaged or involved in the foster care system.

As a parent herself, Cecilia understands both the strong desire parents have to know the details of their child’s treatment while also needing to respect their child’s sense of privacy in order to foster a strong therapeutic relationship. For these reasons, when working with children and adolescents she likes to co-create a treatment plan that includes both individual and family sessions in order to fold the parents (or other family members) into their child’s treatment and strengthen their mutual communication skills and bonds. Research has shown that the environments a child inhabits have an enormous influence on their behavioral, emotional, and psychological development, so a child’s issues shouldn’t be treated in isolation.

With adolescents, Cecilia works largely from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and family systems lens. She brings a lot of warmth and understanding to the psychological, social, and existential issues an adolescent may be facing while also challenging them in constructive ways to cope with and navigate the adult world they are emerging into.

In addition to youth, Cecilia also loves working with adults who are dealing with complicated or painful family dynamics and chronic anxiety or depression. And stemming from her own journey into motherhood, she also has a particular heart for mothers and couples facing grief and emotional pain associated with pregnancy, infant, or child loss, and infertility.
