Barbara Cummings is from Columbus, Georgia, and holds a B.S. in Middle Grades Education with an early childhood focus. She taught kindergarten at Clubview Elementary for seven years before stepping away to raise her family, later returning to teach at Wynnton Pre-School and assisting in second grade at Brookstone School.
Barbara has spent decades investing in children, families, and faith communities. She led children’s ministry at her church for three years and has volunteered with Young Life for over twelve years, working with middle school, high school, and college students. Through her work in education, ministry, and nearly twenty years of involvement at Richards Middle School, she has witnessed both the brokenness and the deep needs present in individuals and families.
Through her own journey, Barbara has experienced the healing and restoration that come through prayer, solitude, counseling, spiritual direction, and mentoring. She has worked for the past seven years in Christian radio, working as a community outreach coordinator. Barbara has worked with ministries, churches, and non-profits throughout the Chattahoochee Valley which has also been a beautiful blessing and a position of learning and growing. These experiences led her to become a certified spiritual director through Selah Spiritual Direction Certification, Siburt Institute for Church Ministry.
Barbara offers a peaceful, prayerful space for individuals to slow down, listen, and discern God’s Presence in their lives. With a heart for walking alongside others, she provides compassionate companionship rooted in deep listening, prayer, and holy curiosity. She welcomes people of all backgrounds and life seasons—whether in times of struggle, transition, growth, or contentment and joy.
Her approach to spiritual direction is not to teach or counsel, but to gently guide others in noticing where God is at work in their story. She believes every person’s story is sacred and that healing, clarity, and wholeness can be found through sacred space, reflection, and prayer.
Barbara works with individuals and groups, including church staff and retreat settings, and has a particular heart for supporting those navigating grief, life transitions, and spiritual longing.
